The Education International (EI) conference ‘United for Education and Quality Leadership‘ brought together, 1-5 May, more than 300 representatives from the four corners of the world.

Discussions were articulated around four major themes: professionalism, education, leadership and school programmes. Panellists, participants and speakers came after in forums to assert that teachers are actors of change and progress.

Far from mumbo jumbo, the interactive workshops and seminars invited participants to build bridges among citizens, politicians, researchers and education professionals. At the heart of the discussions: a post-truth world, child labour, extremism, small data, privatisation and the standardisation of education and reconciliation.

The keynote speaker, Kailash Satyarthi, the Nobel peace prize winner, asserted that: ‘Teachers can show the way, by showing moral sense, courage and compassion for building a world that respects children.’
