In a recently published study, Mutualités Libres (Free Mutuals of Belgium) as well as the NGO Louvain Coopération addressed two major challenges faced by the mutual benefits societies in Benin and Togo: management of data and members loyalty.

The study underscores several findings that make it possible to better understand the landscape of mutual benefits societies and to work for their development, notably through the professionalization of actors and tools, diversification of the membership base, pooling resources or collaboration with healthcare providers.

This survey is also an advocacy tool for the mutual movement providing rigorous insights into the strengths and assets of mutuals in improving access to healthcare. The survey is available here.
