The Ministry of National Education, through the Direction de la Mutualité et des Oeuvres Sociales en Milieu Scolaire (DMOSS) is starting a collaboration with PASS – Programme d’Appui aux Stratégies Sociales within the framework of the “Educational caravan to citizenship and health” project.
Several meetings have been held since the start of 2021, the most recent of which took place on 23 September. This meeting made it possible to define the framework for the coordination of the project and the role played by each of the partners.
The “Educational caravan to citizenship and health” aims to promote children’s learning through citizenship and health education caravans in order to transmit them complementary values to school learning, to promote among Ivorian youth the importance of a certain number of values of living together and of working with the development of critical thinking.
The overall strategy of the project is based on an active, interactive and participatory approach, the objective of which is the change of attitudes and the adoption of responsible behaviors vis-à-vis the Covid-19 pandemic and the commitment to community. It is an approach that favors the real participation of beneficiaries.
Five entities are behind this project. These are Solidarité Laïque, The AVSI Foundation (Association of Volunteers for International Service), the Education and Solidarity Network (ESN), AFRIKATOON and the PASS.
It is always with a view to working in connection with government initiatives that PASS has contacted the Ministry of National Education.
The meeting with the DMOSS office resulted in the initiative of creating a project steering committee at the national level and developing a work plan and a schedule of meetings for the coming months. Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire, is expected to be the pilot implementation area for the project, which would then expand to rural areas in the interior of the country.
