Our Mission
Our network’s work is focused on two themes:
- The promotion of health for education communities
- The development of social security systems
These themes are treated through an approach that promotes the mobilisation of young activists, relying heavily on facilitation tools in collective intelligence and in connection with research, particularly through to the research-action approach.
The activities are separated within three areas that reflect the triple community that represents ESN:
A COMMUNITY OF VALUES
The objective of ESN is to share the values of solidarity, not-for-profit orientation and democracy, and to make them live on an international perspective.
“ Born from the desire to bring the key players in education and health to the same table, the range of ESN members is diverse and representative of our interdisciplinary origin: education unions, health mutual benefit societies, cooperatives, youth associations, research centres, academics and individuals. While they may have very different regulations and functioning rules, they still hold shared values: democracy and solidarity ”
Missions
Guaranteeing the animation and the functioning of the association during the board meetings
Promoting the issues and realities of members through visits, meetings and study trips
Expanding internal communication dynamics of the Network
A COMMUNITY OF SUBJECTS
The subjects at the heart of ESN’s work are:
- Occupational health of education professionals and health education
- Social protection
“ We believe that members of the ESN, mutual benefit societies and unions who fight for universal access to quality education and health systems should join forces and work with other actors who support solidarity, public services, and democracy, to ensure everyone can enjoy the inalienable and sacred rights inherent to human beings”
Missions

A COMMUNITY OF INITIATIVES

“ This mosaic of key players in education in health makes it possible to group topics and various fields of expertise: health promotion, school health, community mobilisation, social protection, animation, research/ action, etc. These skills serve the goals of the ESN, its members and partners.”
Missions
To provide its members with transversal support tools and networks of experts on collective intelligence, action research, youth mobilization intelligence

Supporting members in their fundraising efforts
Members' Feedbacks
The Education and Solidarity Network brings together the two fundamental components for the development of humanity: education and solidarity for all. The purpose is to be able to advance through education in a spirit of solidarity in a mutual support towards the well-being of all people, towards the protection of all, towards a social protection. The Education and Solidarity Network is undoubtedly an organization of great importance for the solidarity sector and the sectors that manage social protection. In the world, many organizations, including my own, are dedicated to act and react to the economic, social and political situations that arise on a daily basis; what makes the ESN really important and different is that it focuses on young people and on something very important... EDUCATE, which is undoubtedly the key to a better future, to a more aware, prepared and supportive world
Teachers Health Fund believes that the Education and Solidarity Network is doing an important job in mobilizing education union members around the importance of developing and promoting solidarity-based social protection systems and developing strategies to educate and train people on solidarity-based social protection. The opportunity to promote exchange in best practice, share tools and experiences; educate, train and disseminate a culture of social protection; and create and develop mutual solidarity organizations such as in health insurance is a tangible way of demonstrating and advocating the strength of solidarity-based social protection systems.
The Education and Solidarity Network is a space of union between the education and social protection sectors. This represents a basis for social policies and a strength for projects aimed at social cohesion
The Network is important because it helps create and develop mutual solidarity organizations such as health insurance in a tangible way. I personally want to import best practices to the Gambia and continue being part of the winning team.
The National Education Association and its subsidiary, NEA’s Member Benefits Corporation, believe in the power of collective action. The power to create great public schools for every student; the power to improve the environment in which students learn and teachers teach; the power to improve the teaching professions and the support the profession gets from local communities. Improving the quality of the learning environment, access to basic health and retirement benefits know no borders. The Education Solidarity Network shares our values and is the place where we all come together to address our common challenges and share strategies to help children and teachers across the globe.
